46th Annual United States National Speedway Championship

46th Annual United States National Speedway Championship

Calling All Race Fans!

This weekend marks the final round of the 2014 Costa Mesa Speedway racing season. The series wraps up Saturday with the 46th Annual United States National Speedway Championship – a one shot, no room for errors, kind of race. For the past 3 years Performance Machine has been a proud sponsor of the series, and we look forward to seeing who will slide into the finish and take this year’s championship.

Speedway is unlike any other sport – all it takes is a blink of an eye, a moment lapse of concentration or a bit of bad luck, and positions can change in an instant. Combine those elements of uncertainty, along with half-a-dozen guys ripping around a 1/16th mile dirt oval track on 500cc brakeless machines, and you get a night of pure bar-to-bar racing action!

Performance Machine rider #66 Jason Ramirez, slides inside for the pass on teammate #39 Buck Blair.

Earlier this year we watched such unpredictability occur, as young Performance Machine Speedway star #66 Jason Ramirez fought an uphill battle during the night of the John Matherson Cup. Ramirez was able to make it to the Semis, but was unable to qualify for the Main and found himself racing the LCQ. After taking an inside pass on his PM teammate, #39 Buck Blair; Ramirez took the win in the LCQ, landing him the last spot on the starting line for the Main Event. Once the tape went up, Ramirez slid into turn 2, took the lead, and never looked back. Ramirez went home with the win, but not without first showing us the true meaning of “Speedway,” – anything can happen.

The Costa Mesa Speedway has been around since 1969, and is the nation’s longest-running weekly event of its kind. Every weekend loyal fans gather with friends and family and head to the iconic “bullring” oval to enjoy a night of fun and entertainment.

Gates open for the 46th Annual United States National Speedway Championship at 6:00pm this Saturday, September 27th, and races are set to begin at 7:30pm sharp! Come join PM as we watch our favorite riders battle it out for the championship!
