Our president, Mark Finnie, was named the “2011 Industry Leader of the Year” during the Excellence in Motorcycling Awards ceremony held during V-Twin Expo (Feb. 5-7, 2011) in Cincinnati, Ohio. (By the way, if you’ve never met Mark, read Meet the Performance Machine Team – Mark Finnie, President.)
The annual V-Twin Expo is one of the top motorcycle industry events of the year. The Industry Leader of the Year award is given to the person at the company that shows an unequaled vision, strategy and a dynamic business sense during the past year.
Since signing up to lead Performance Machine nearly three years ago, Mark has continued to operate the company according to the core competencies — innovation, quality, fit, and function — that over the last 40 years have consistently made us a motorcycle industry leader. And while accepting the PM presidency during an economic downturn may have intimidated some, Mark was up for the challenge. Plainly stated, Mark’s approach to business has enabled us to grow both in terms of revenue and profitability, while at the same time introducing high quality PM motorcycle parts and accessories.
Continuous process improvements, direct labor efficiency, reduced costs, new market/segment expansion, and most importantly — new products — are all part of the PM vision, and each, Mark is here leading the process.
If you ever get a chance to ask Mark about this award, he’s likely to shrug it off and tell you it’s a team effort that wins awards. He’d also be sure to throw in that Brian Etter and Arnie Ackerman over at MAG are just as deserving, as are dozens of other folks who design, create and build original and classic custom motorcycle parts. Regardless of how biased we are, we honestly couldn’t think of a more deserving person for the 2011 Motorcycle Industry Leader of the Year. Congratulations, Mark!
