PM Crew Rolls Up Its Sleeves for the Red Cross

Check this out… a total of 30 Performance Machine employees “hooked up” with the American Red Cross this week, donating blood at a bloodmobile parked outside PM’s expansive headquarters here in La Palma, Calif.

Open to PM employees, this in-house blood drive was the first of what we believe will become a tradition of supporting such a life-saving cause, as well as a great way to contribute to the strong sense of community felt among our team members.

Employees who participated received a free T-shirt and had their names entered into a drawing for some great giveaways from the Red Cross, including annual passes to Disneyland and vouchers to a Los Angeles Galaxy soccer game. Each PM blood donor also received two free tickets to explore the Grammy Museum at the campus of LA LIVE.

Severe winter weather throughout much of the United States in recent months has caused the cancellation of more than 25,000 blood and platelet donations through the American Red Cross. With more winter weather and a possible coastal storms predicted, the Red Cross urges all eligible blood donors to help boost its blood supply back up to sufficient levels. The need for blood is constant. Every two seconds someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion. Since blood is perishable and has no substitute, and red blood cells have a shelf life of only 42 days and platelets just five days, they must be replenished constantly.
