Performance Machine held a book drive to focus on the next generation of children for our quarterly community service. PM teamed up with THINK Together’s Early Literacy and Math Program (ELMP) to help collect gently used or new children’s books to provide the basic literacy and vocabulary skills to prepare young kids for kindergarten.
ELMP distributes these books to young children ages 0-5 and are delivered to Community Pediatric Clinics, Community events, including school readiness programs and health fairs. At the clinics and offices, trained volunteers are on site to read to the children and educate parents about the importance of reading out load. Books are kept at the location and replaced often to ensure a variety of reading materials. Another program offered is a rotation of book bags that are given to families to support their young children of reading and learning activities at home.
We are delighted to announce that PM employees contributed approximately 400 used and new books for kids to enjoy. The books range from the classic “Clifford” series to “The Magic School Bus.” We also included a few motorcycle books such as “The Mouse and the Motorcycle,” “Bikers are Animals,” and “Little Mike and Maddie’s First Motorcycle Ride” to show some spirit. PM is excited to give access of rich book materials that will assist children with a better education and lifelong success.
Reading is power and literacy is the foundation of all learning.
