The ‘Vargas on Wheels’ Tractor Trailer

The ‘Vargas on Wheels’ Tractor Trailer

Here’s your first peek at the spruced-up tractor-trailer we’re just now taking out on the road to motorcycle events and rallies. Images on this 53-foot trailer include the Vargas-like model shown here, as well as PM’s decked-out “H-D 48.” Both sparkling images represent our marketing campaign and catalog display for 2011.

This year we worked with Spin Imaging Inc. to wrap our travel truck trailer. We picked this Long Beach, Calif., firm because of the great work its crew did with us on the remodel of the space used to house our Research and Development department, and because they have a great track record (more on the R&D space here at PM in an upcoming post). They specialize in large-format custom digital graphics, with an emphasis on paying close attention to detail.

Seems both companies – Performance Machine and Spin Imaging – have that in common.

The idea was to re-create a super high-resolution photo of a Vargas girl that maintained the lifelike color and clarity of the original image in our new parts catalog. Not an easy task when you consider exactly how ginormous this gal appears when you’re in traffic behind our rig.

And Spin Imaging came through with flying colors. It was just like Christmas when we took delivery of our renovated rig. We decided to go with our interpretation of Alberto Vargas’ pin-up girls found throughout our new parts catalog and on our tractor-trailer. That’s because the women who modeled our products in the 2011 catalog bear the same unobtainable beauty as the Vargas girls from 70 years ago. The model shown here fully complements the Harley-Davidson 48 Sportser behind her — a bike that is decked out with a bevy of PM chrome and aluminum products.

And we’re not wasting any time getting this rad rig out on the road for a series of motorcycle rallies and events, including:
